Unleash The Buff
So yeah, apparently I like blowing things up. This one was really cool. It was played at the beginning of the Blue Buffalo National Meeting and the events people hooked up smoke shooters (I know it called something different but I can’t think of it at the moment) and they were synched to The Buffs breakthrough. There is video of it. I was proud.
21st Century Sound Design
Plot: What does it sound like when cars smash into trees. What about smashing in to ice? How about lava? What the hell does a car sound like falling into fricken LAVA!!I
Role: Figuring out what cars sound like falling and smashing into all above the environment! Sourcing sound effect bit and pieces I crafted each of these pieces. Starting off with winds, fluttering flags, and cloth ruffling.
Lava; bubbling pudding, cracking sticks, several glass smashes, and fire ‘swoops.’
Tree crash; was pretty easy. Basically trees falling, breaking branches, wood groans, and of course song birds and angry crows.
Ice/iceberg; glass smashes, tundra winds, dropping metal clangs, lot’s of dropping metal clangs. And to give the iceberg crumbling I wanted a deep metal groan which I found from cruise ships having horn battles! It was exciting layering and manipulating all the clips and sources together to get the sounds the Creative Director wanted.
